Frank Gayer Martin News

Opening for Steve Martin and the Steep Canyon Rangers Oct. 24 at the Paramount Theater. Ha — that'll be fun. Yes it's true, we are first cousins. Some think I'm the black sheep, but he plays banjo.

Working up a new band. After all these years, never really played with another electric guitarist. The new line up, with Hap Harriman and I on teles and other twangers, has opened up a whole new room, spacious, lush, grinding. It's very playful, very musical. And I get to play more slide! Drummer Carleton Pike lays very comfy grooves and whacks 'em when needed. It's strange to think Doug Whitney has played bass with me for five years - he never ceases to surprise and amaze all who play with him.

More tunes with more energy.
